Joleen Conrad
(she/her), Mental Health Practitioner
My approach to therapy is to create a therapeutic relationship built on validation and curiosity. This opens the opportunity for genuineness, feelings of safety, empathy and elements of humor. While it may be difficult to come into the therapy room, it is my intention to create a safe place to acquire needed skills to gain access to be our own experts on our healing journey.
I am entering therapy as a second career, having spent decades in early childhood education working with children and their families. Working with families has given me the opportunity to explore interests in ADHD, anxiety, depression, adjustment, life transitions, attachment issues and self-identity. I understand the complexities of families and how challenging life can be when a curve ball gets thrown. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals, couples and families through divorce, blended families and life transitions. I provide a safe place for discussing and exploring topics ranging from common frustrations to complex relational issues.
I believe we are captains of our own ships, and it takes a growth mindset to navigate rough waters. My role is to provide support and balance to areas that are interfering with life goals. I truly believe the client is the expert and that I am just a guide on the journey. I use a collaborative approach to therapy incorporating person-centered techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, play therapy and more. I would be honored to be a guide in your journey of personal growth.
